Mexico Cruise on Mariner 12/18

Hi

We just got on the Mariner cruise to Mexico after being on the waitlist for a bit.

Has anyone done this itinerary and have any info or advice . Kind of a minor itinerary as it just stops in Cabo, Mazatlan, and Puerta Vallarta...oh and San Diego which is sort of funny since we live about an hour from SD!\\But we just wanted to get away for the holiday!

Do you think there will be lots of kids on the cruise since it is a holiday cruise

This is our second cruise..the first was Alaska in August of this year

Thanks so much

Mary

Hi Marylizbeth:

My parents and I sailed aboard the Mariner last year Dec 2005 on the

christmas cruise. We will be sailing with you this year Dec 18 2006, as we

really enjoy RSSC and the Mariner.

Last year there were only about 450 passengers aboard our

christmas cruise, and the ship holds 700 passengers max, so our

passenger load was reasonably light. It surprised me you said you

were on a waitlist and just got cleared...The ship this year must

be at full or near full capacity!!! It makes sense---last year Dec 2005

RSSC has 2 round trip LA to Mexico cruises----this year in 2006

they only have 1 round trip, so demand must be greater for cabins.

Another funny thing ,our travel agent just called us yesterday and

asked us to move to another suite. I guess the cruise line was trying

to manuver some passengers around to get more on board to maximize

capacity and revenue---I wonder if that was you they were trying

to move us for???? We did move---They gave us an offer we could not

refuse..

Anyway, here are some memories I have from our christmas

cruise last year--I hope they help you in your planning......

1. Yes, expect to see some kids.....last year there were 60 kids

under the age of 20 years. There is a KIDS SAIL FREE PROMO

this year, just as there was last year. There might be even MORE

kids this year than last year since the ship, I guess, is very full.

2. If you are so inclined to celebrate christmas, the ship is decorated

very nicely for the holidays---Not overdone, but just right. It

seems like every time you turned the corner, there was another

christmas tree.

3. Bring your Santa hat to wear on christmas and when the staff

and passengers sing christmas carols in the lobby and lounges.

4. They have door decorating contest ---people with elaborately

decorated holiday doors to their suites were given tokens to

turn in for RSSC logo merchandise. I got the most tokens last

year, so be prepared for some competition!!

5. I hope you have a good time---see you there!!

Thanks for the answers on Mexico cruise.

And look forward to seeing Randy and Andrea! Andrea were you on the Alaska cruise that had the engine "incident" in August?

And, Randy I do wonder if you got moved around for us. Our travel agent did say he had to pull some strings to get us on. And, it is definitely a full ship. They said the waitlist was actually closed when I first called Regent just to check before calling my travel agent! He is a dream and I knew he could get us on!

We got booked onto Deck 9 - was that the deck you were on originally? Wouldn't that be funny?

Anyway ...you will likely see me walking around the jogging course a lot since that and walking up and down the stairs is what helped me not gain weight on the last cruise!!!

Hope we see you there!

Best,

Mary

Hi Andrea

That is such a coincidence. I also realized we are waitlisted on the cruise before you in June. We are hoping to get on the Baltic Cruise on June 12th!

You can email me at janey1245@aol.com and I will give you my identifying info in case you want to say hi on the ship!

See you in about a week I guess!!!

Mary
