"Live from the Freedom- not!" UPDATE!!!

Recommended Posts

Well here's what they did in Freedoms case, straight from the CDC:

On December 10th, VSP staff recommended that the ship not sail for 48 hours due to three consecutive voyages with a high number of ill people and the time needed to properly clean and disinfect the ship.

Actions as of December 10th: RCCL took the following actions:

  • brought on 45 additional staff to assist during the non-voyage period, in addition to the 1,399 crew already performing cleaning and disinfection procedures,
  • collected stool specimens for analysis,
  • informed oncoming passengers of the elevated number of ill people,
  • developed a CDC approved disembarkation plan including:
    • cleaning of terminals and buses,
    • separation plan for ill people,

[*]developed a CDC approved cleaning and disinfection plan for the 48 hours between voyages.

VSP staff will remain aboard the ship to monitor cleaning and disinfection procedures while the ship is not sailing.

Freedom should be back in port by now shouldn't it? I hope to hear from our members who went this time. Of course the news media won't follow up unless alot of people are sick again. Hope your shorter cruise was a good one DV

Just a quick note to say that despite our cruise being shortened by 2 days, we had an absolutely fabulous time. THe staff here really jammed packed these 5 days with tons of activities and worked overtime to ensure a happy and safe trip for us. Still on the ship..our last night. Just returned from a wonderful dinner. Will write more later but out of over 3,600 passangers only 4had any symptoms of flu. So, the extra cleaning time has really paid off. I still say this has got to be the cleanest ship around. Write more when I get home tomorrow or next day. Bye for now.
