Getting Cash From Casino?

My DH and I will be sailing on the Empress of the Seas (December 18) for our honeymoon and had a question regarding Visa vs. cash vs. travellers cheques.

Another CC poster made a comment that on Royal Caribbean ships, you could get cash from the casino, have it charged to your seapass, and it would show as a "purchase", rather than a "cash advance" on your Visa account. Can anyone verify this? Is there a limit as to how much cash you can get from the casino? We're trying to avoid spending money on ATM service fees and travellers cheques. Is there a RCI service charge for doing this?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, this is true. We did this on some of our cruises if we found we were running a little shorter on cash than we liked. You can get up to $2000 per day, and there is no service charge for doing this. Just be aware that the casinos are not open when the ship is in port, so if you need $$ be sure to get it the night before you get to the next island.

Have a wonderful honeymoon cruise!

We did this. It's easier than carrying a lot of cash with you.

Plus, we got miles on our credit card for it. I should have taken out the max each day and earned a free flight. But then again, that would mean carrying around thousands of dollars just to pay it all back when the bill arrives.

We did this as well. Much easier than bringing cash with you and we charged it to our RCI visa for the double points that Erin mentioned.

Don't forget that if you have a RCI Visa, you will get double points if you do this. :)

I was going to "ditto" what everyone else said, as I have done it as well, but I'll do it off your helpful hint. I'll do that next time.
