Rare cruzin4us Posted December 12, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 12, 2006 I read somewhere there is no gambling in Chilean Waters :( We are on the BA to Santiago cruise, and I was wondering at what point they open & close the casino? Any knowledge on this would be appreciated. Thanks! Laurie
Sekhmet Posted December 15, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 15, 2006 Yes, that is quite true. We just returned from HAL Rotterdam's Rio to Valparaiso, and the casino was closed when we entered Chilean waters after leaving Ushuaia, and remained so for most of the rest of the voyage. It did reopen after Puerto Montt during the last day at sea (presumably we were out of Chilean coastal waters). Just think of the money you will save, Laurie!!:)
sevigny Posted December 15, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 15, 2006 Dear Sekhmet, We are about to leave on the 20th to pick up the Rotterdam in Rio. Could you please post some details about how the cruise went for you? Did you use ship tours or local guides? Were there taxis in Punta Arenas to take you to Otway Sound to see the penguins? I'd be interested in any info you could post concerning the trip and how the ship seemed to you. I'd be very grateful. Thanks!
Sekhmet Posted December 18, 2006 #4 Share Posted December 18, 2006 Sevigny, I've posted a review on the HAL board above, which I hope helps. Sorry for the delay, but I work as a volunteer on a Heritage Steam Railway, and the weekend has been taken up with helping about 3000 children and their parents take a train ride to see Santa!
