Cinderose Posted December 15, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 15, 2006 Does anyone know which travel Insurance covers your laptop? Have you ever had a problem while on a cruise with having it broken? Im just an overly cautious business owner. I would be lost if anything happened to mine while cruising! Thanks!
jleq Posted December 15, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 15, 2006 Most of the "business package policies" here cover laptop damage/loss. Check each policy for specifics: http://www.insuremytrip.com/
chasetf Posted December 15, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 15, 2006 Might check with your homeowners policy. Just a thought.
Moeve Posted December 15, 2006 #4 Share Posted December 15, 2006 If you have a travel insurance policy that is not only a medical cover you might want to check that too
cruiseco Posted December 15, 2006 #5 Share Posted December 15, 2006 Be sure to read the policy fine print carefully. Some will have something like a $2500 coverage but limit the loss on any one item to $250 which won't do you much good. Many travel policies also specifically exclude items used for business -- they're marketed toward vacation travelers, not business travelers. Your best choice would be to have your laptop covered on your business' insurance plan. Ask your agent how to do that. The drawbacks of expecting your homeowner's policy to cover it is that it's unlikely it covers business equipment, but even if you convinced them it was personal, you'd probably get a big rate hike from the claim on renewal.
