aainsjen Posted December 20, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 20, 2006 I read the last "detailed" review of this and I had some different opinions. I am by far not a newbie to cruising as this was my 2nd on Princess as I was on the Grand a few years back. I love cruising, and will continue to cruise but may think differently on what line I choose. I am 30 years old and I traveled with 3 other people all of my age and I can definatly say we were the youngest people on this ship. There were times youd walk on deck 15 and want to check to see if people were still breathing. The canes and walkers were incredible, and the only good thing I can say is that they did have a sense of humor. The ships entertanment catetered to the older crowd as well. For example they had 50's night, 60's night and Ballroom dancing. We found overselves in the casino most nights just because there really wasnt anything to do. The food was ok at best, and I am no expert or fine diner, but when we'd ask our waiter what some of the things were on the menu, they didnt even make it sound appealing to try. I ate pasta mostly because I new I was safe with that. I guess overall--cruising itself is always awesome-- Once you've been on one there all about the same. Royal Caribbean seems to now be our favorite! One thing I do want to say about the service, is when I first starting cruising the help caterted to you. Now that Tipping is included there definalty DO NOT go out of there way to provide that extra bit of service. And I know what readers will say, you can take that tipping charge away and tip accordingly, and thats exactly what we did, its just not like how it use to be. Remember this is only my opinion and everyones entitled to there opinion. I always read all the cruise reviews before I head out on my cruise to see what the latest things people are saying. I suppose since its closer to Christmas there might be some families with kids coming on that ship, I hope for them they change the nightly entertainment! If anyone has any specific questions I will check back to answer them. One last note that I forgot to say is this was the worst rocking ship Id been on in a while as well, a lot of people were sick on the first sea day as also the last sea day and they didnt give out free DRAMAMINE, which RC does. I thought that was crazy. I wear the patch behind my ear and still found myself with an upset stomach.
manmtnmike Posted December 20, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 20, 2006 Can you tell me who the lounge bands were? FYI: Others from other cruise lines are reporting the same age group disparity when reviewing same dates. It may be the time of year.

ldoc31 Posted December 20, 2006 #4 Share Posted December 20, 2006 My husband and I were on this cruise also. The seas were rough so of course you would find the ship rocking. I thought the age group was pretty varied from young families to older. If you chose to cruise in early December you will find more senior cruisers. I saw plenty of activity when on deck so I guess we were there at different times. Keep trying other lines and I'm sure you will find one that suits your needs. dsfitz Posted December 20, 2006 #5 Share Posted December 20, 2006 We did this cruise and agree that there were certainly many older people, but it didn't seem out of the ordinary to me. In fact, on one of our shore excursions we talked to a young couple off of one of the Carnival ships, and they were amazed by the number of older cruisers - since they thought Carnival was a "party ship". The first couple of days had reasonably rough seas - some veterans commented that they were the rockiest they had ever seen in the Caribbean. ldoc31 Posted December 20, 2006 #6 Share Posted December 20, 2006 I did forget to mention that the entertainment seemed pretty varied also. The ballroom dancing offered all the new dances. The "Piano Man" show and "Caliente" were up to date. There were comedy acts and a hypnotist--pretty standard no matter what the cruise line. BTfan Posted December 20, 2006 #7 Share Posted December 20, 2006 I think alot of things affect the crowd..price of the cruise, time of year, length of cruise... I've taken 7 dayers on Carnival and RCCL in Jan/Feb and it seems to be fairly varied..definitely not as young as the 5 day summer cruise this past summer. Princess probably doesn't appeal or has much of a name in the younger market...I'm looking forward to my trip in about a month and I'm 31. I'm curious now as to what the passenger mix will be
