FuranzuMaru Posted December 21, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 21, 2006 BA are changing their baggage allowance policy from 13th Feb 2006. For those of us who cannot pack lightly ( wife especially ) and travel in cattle class it's each extra bag costs £120:eek: See the link below for details. Ouch! http://www.britishairways.com/travel/bgpolicy/public/en_gb The upgrade costs more though.

transat_jon Posted December 21, 2006 #4 Share Posted December 21, 2006 Looks like the other airlines are also going this way ; see thread : http://messages.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=456445 BA's excess charges do put them in a class of their own though, ouch. (Unless of course you make the most of the extra 23kg this charge allows you).
Ab Ovo Posted December 21, 2006 #5 Share Posted December 21, 2006 Maybe they were getting ready. I flew British Air into Heathrow 15 December from JFK. No carryon. Everything was packed in in one large, red, bag. They weighed it and marked it and put on a large, yellow, band reading "Heavy." Have not seen them before note the weight nor state it HEAVY! (Soon it'll be dark on the shortest day of the year. Makes you forget heavy bags and airlines ... which today and yesterday were in havoc due to fog.) Kindlychap Posted December 21, 2006 #6 Share Posted December 21, 2006 FuranzuMaru, you really don't understand do you? ;) You have the carryon - she has the full checked allowance! It's something to do with shoes........ :D
FuranzuMaru Posted December 22, 2006 Author #7 Share Posted December 22, 2006 Of course! The shoes are the key. Silly of me not to understand. I am enlightened ;)
clydecruiser Posted December 22, 2006 #8 Share Posted December 22, 2006 We should note from the BA site that World Traveller customers travelling to or from the US, Canada, Caribbean, Nigeria, Brazil and Mexico will continue to be allowed two checked bags in line with the local government regulations. So 2 bags are still allowed between UK and US - more space for the wife's shoes
