web cams

does anyone know what happened to the web cams on each ship? you could check them out at the ha web site. but it doesn't seem to be there anymore. :confused:

Maybe I missed something but I don't recall HAL ever having web cams on their Internet site. Yes, they have camera shots on the TV's in the cabins but haven't, to the best of my knowledge, ever put those up on any webpage.

Funny! But it does raise the point again. Why doesn't HAL make these available for viewing on their website like other cruise lines do?

Good question Jim! Some line, Princess maybe:confused: ??, has a webcam set up in their internet center. Now, that can make for some interesting viewing as you're pecking away:rolleyes:

celebrity galaxy has a web cam in their internet shop --- we had our pix taken on the cruise and then retreived it from their library when we got home

I did ask Mr. Deering that question at the CC party and was it because of the cost?

 

His answer was that HAL is just old-fashioned and not big on that internet stuff. Didn't get into how easy or difficult it would be to hook up to the existing ship cam.

Princess and P & O have web cam on their internet site, it can be great fun following ships as they sail out of our harbour here in Auckland, we get a peep-hole view of the Rangitoto Channel from our home and by charting the webcam we have a pretty good idea when to start watching out for the ship.

 

We watched the Statendam leave on Friday, my hubby had to sit in the chair and keep looking up, dumb us forgot to ask what time the ship was sailing, how much easier to watch a webcam. By the way the Statendam did make a very beautiful picture as she slipped pass us on a truly spendid evening, the folk on board would have had a wonderful vista of our very special Hauraki Gulf.
