Joyfredsblondecruiser Posted December 26, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 26, 2006 After reading about the good BBQ in Galveston I am wondering if there are some good ones in Houston too? Happy Sailing, Joy
springtxbill Posted December 26, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 26, 2006 Best by far is Goode Company on Kirby, also another location on I-10 but not quite as good. Close runnerup with a lot of locations is Pappa"s BBQ.:)

yst347 Posted December 26, 2006 #4 Share Posted December 26, 2006 Goode Co. is excellent bar-b-cue. The Kirby location is the original and closer to downtown. It is also located just a few miles from the museum district. http://www.goodecompany.com/default.aspx To each his own but I would pass on Papas. The Papas family owns a ton of restaurants in Houston and while the quality is high in all of them, none seem "authentic" to me. JMHO My favorite place for bar-b-cue is Otto's. http://ottosbarbecue.com/ The original location would be my recomendation but they also have a location downtown in the pedestrian tunnels. I'm not sure but I think the downtown store is only open Monday through Friday.
DannyMac Posted December 26, 2006 #5 Share Posted December 26, 2006 Drexler's Bar B Q owned by the family of Clyde Drexler who played in the NBA. It is located downtown but cannot remember the address.
springtxbill Posted December 27, 2006 #6 Share Posted December 27, 2006 Drexler's in my opinion is overpriced and not that good.:(

Joyfredsblondecruiser Posted January 24, 2007 Author #9 Share Posted January 24, 2007 I have been reading about Thelma`s Barbeque it sounds very good. We will be staying at the Hilton on Lamar. Thelma`s is at 1020 Live Oak @Lamar. I have no idea how long Lamar is but I think they are both in the downtown area. Would it be easy to get to in a taxi?
