nancycara Posted December 30, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 30, 2006 How would anyone compare Cockleshell and South Friars. Will be there for a few hours on the Crown and can't decided which one to go to. Is it worth it to stop a bit at both? We love a quiet beautiful beach, not crowded and if there is snorkeling that would be a bonus.
babylene Posted December 30, 2006 #4 Share Posted December 30, 2006 Hi! We would like to spend the morning at a beach. We need chaises, shade and clean facilities. We would like clean clear water for a good swim and we would also like to be able to take a walk along the beach.(not too many requirements!!!) You seem to have experience! What would you recommend for us? We are not interested in eating or drinking! Thank you so much! Have a happy new year!

andreak1041 Posted January 2, 2007 #6 Share Posted January 2, 2007 I would not recommend Turtle Beach. The beach is small and of poor sand quality. The chairs are available, though often broken and rusty. There is a restaurant and bar, though a 12 oz pina colada that tastes like sewer for $6 is no good. But MOSTLY there is a constant harassment by locals to get you to buy souveniers, take pictures with monkeys (at a price!) and mostly to get a massage with aloe. They say it's a free sample, but then they demand money, quite aggressively. Also, they do not go away even if you say no. Not my idea of a good Christmas - we returned to the ship early. I understand the difficulties of making money on a small island, but if someone politely declines your offer many times, it is wrong to continue to harass. babylene Posted January 2, 2007 #7 Share Posted January 2, 2007 Thank you for your replies. At Mr. X's shack, is the water clear and calm for swimming? How would you rate them all as best for a)swimming, b)walking and c)shade? Thanks...and lucky you, you get to spend lots of time in St. Kitts! wckdtrix Posted January 5, 2007 #9 Share Posted January 5, 2007 We went to Mr X's back in November with hopes to ride jetskis. When we got there, we saw several very old and rugged looking jetskis on the beach. None appeared to have been used in quite some time. Upon asking the guy there if any of them were opperational he apologized and said "no". Other than that, the beach was very nice...we enjoyed a swim and took the water taxi back to the terminal....but we were a bit disappointed since we didnt get to do the jetskis.
