furkidsmom Posted January 15, 2007 #26 Share Posted January 15, 2007 Just spoke to Costa and they said you can purchase the package onboard also. :)
CruiseFanII Posted January 15, 2007 Author #27 Share Posted January 15, 2007 Yes, my TA told me that Costa told her you can purchase the X1 package on board, by going to Guest Services. For that reason, I only booked it for the first week of our B2B, so I could determine if it was worth the $$ before committing to both weeks. I'll try to remember to come back to this thread when we get back (after Feb 12) to let folks know what we thought of the package.
Majestyk Posted January 16, 2007 #28 Share Posted January 16, 2007 I just told my travel agent to purchase the package for my wife and I. NancyJewel92 Posted January 17, 2007 #31 Share Posted January 17, 2007 Would love to be able to purchase this, and to pay for this, for my parents on our up-coming trip. It would be a nice surprise for them. Maybe I can get a helpful front desk person who will put it on my account instead of theirs. :)

msboo18 Posted January 18, 2007 #34 Share Posted January 18, 2007 I just called Costa to book this drink package - and was able to because my cruise is AT LEAST 14 DAYS OUT - it is under special services and she told me it could only be booked 14 days in advance. I didn't ask about on board - just happy to get mine now!!:)
2Scots Posted January 18, 2007 #35 Share Posted January 18, 2007 If you read reply #3, the fax copy he posted states: IT MUST BE PAID ONLY BEFORE THE CRUISE AND ONLY TO INDIVIDUAL GUESTS From what we discovered trying to buy this package was no one at Costa or our TA had even heard of it and we were explaining to them... so it's hard to know if it can really be purchased on board. It is denoted as a special service and may if fact require booking in advance of sailing. 2Scots- sailing Concordia Mar 2nd!
cajuncrewmate Posted January 18, 2007 #36 Share Posted January 18, 2007 2Scots - Yes I believe you are right. In fact, when I called Costa directly the lady in reservations that helped me (btw - every time I have called Costa from the US they have been superb! - can't speak enough to their customer service on the phone) - she had a bit of a problem finding it. She really had to dig to find the X1 package. But once she did it was not a big deal to reserve the $11.40USD package. =-CCM
msboo18 Posted January 19, 2007 #37 Share Posted January 19, 2007 another note - is that you have to pay for the X1 package now, when you make the reservation, unlike booking the excursions that are charged to your credit card at the end of the cruise - so have a credit card ready to pay! can't wait to use it - trust me, we'll get our money's worth! Jdleong Posted January 19, 2007 #41 Share Posted January 19, 2007 I ordered the X-1 package today and the lady at Costa was so helpful..too bad it doesn't include champagne, but drinking 2 glasses of wine at dinner pays for it, then all the others are bonuses...I like that!!!! Can't wait to use it . Jan
Shelledpea Posted January 19, 2007 #42 Share Posted January 19, 2007 HI all, Just returned from concordia and the X1 package was the highlight of my husbands trip (bar the itineary). He even managed to sit in the buffet with various deserts and still get served. It did pay for its self just at dinner as service was so slow. shell
mafig Posted January 19, 2007 #43 Share Posted January 19, 2007 Could you explain how it works at dinner? Who serves you? Your regular waiter or the wine steward (if Costa has one)? If, for example, I wanted a glass of white wine and then wanted red at dinner, can this be done easily? I'm still torn between this and the wine package.:D

astralj Posted January 20, 2007 #45 Share Posted January 20, 2007 Yes, that site looks very good. You seem to be very familiar with routes here... How about giving your best fastest route from 8 starboard forward to smeralda for dinner? Thanks!

If, for example, I wanted a glass of white wine and then wanted red at dinner, can this be done easily? I'm still torn between this and the wine package.:D  Hi, On the first night he had the poor waiters run ragged ~ you have a waiter and his assistant & they do both the drinks and the food and have an area of about 10 tables (ours had 6 x tables for 4, a table for 8 & a table for 2 to cover = 34people) and as he drinks lager they were just bringing 1/2pints but they just disappeared so he managed to fit 7 halves in that night. The next night they had got hold of a large glass which cut down on the amount of walking they had to do! You can order any by the glass drink so white wine with your starter, red with soup, red with main, then white with desert. I had the wine packages (special & Classic) But I also topped up with 2 bottles in every port as they could be picked up for 3 -9 euro each for a decent wine when the ship were charging 18 -40 euros in the bars a bottle plus 15% Beleive me if you are on concordia you will need the drink ~ just to numb you to your surroundings! How about giving your best fastest route from 8 starboard forward to smeralda for dinner? Thanks! walk all the way down the starboard hallway on deck 8 to the aft elevator. take that to deck 3. smeralda is on decks 3 and 4 but the first night to be escorted to your table you need to enter on the main floor 3. after the first night if you have a table on the upper level (4) you can take the elevator to deck 4 and avoid the crowd that forms before the restaraunt doors open in the 'hole' as i call it. i call the middle and aft elevator stops on deck 3 the 'hole' because they go to nothing but the restraunts. there's no where else to go! Max will tell you to go to deck 5 first then walk to either the middle or aft elevators to get to your restraunt. he only says this to get you to walk thru the shops and casino, but its not nessecary. getting to the restraunts from cabins on deck 9 and 10 are a little trickier. Shelledpea Posted January 29, 2007 #50 Share Posted January 29, 2007 Hi, The wine from the vouchers I started with the meal and normally had a glass left in the bottle for a drink after dinner. The wine I took on board I drank in the bars ~ I opened it in our cabin then carried up to bar where we were sitting that night & just asked for a glass then when I finished that bottle I went and got the next:D Shelley
