jrtmouse Posted January 5, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 5, 2007 I see all this talk about an ocean to ocean train in Panama. Can somebody please give me the info regarding this train? We'll be in Colon for one of the stops on our cruise. Thanks!
jrtmouse Posted January 8, 2007 Author #2 Share Posted January 8, 2007 I've found general information about the Panama Canal Railway Company. Has anybody done the train to and from Colon (not as part of a ship sponsored excursion) and does it leave in regularly scheduled intervals other than at 7:15 am and 5:15 pm? We're only there from 7 to 4. Any information you could provide would be much appreciated!
midnight302 Posted January 18, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 18, 2007 Looks like it has to be booked through ship.. from the website 'All tours are booked directly with the cruise line’s shore excursion desk or with an authorized booking agent. We recommend that you book early since it is usually the first tour sold-out on the ship."
lyttleone1977 Posted January 18, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 18, 2007 We are planning on booking this tour, and it can only be booked through the ship. Since this is a ship sponsered tour, the ship will wait for you. I have noticed in Panama there is only one ship in port on most days, so that means mainly people from the ship will be on the train. The ship is not going to leave with all of those people not onboard.
