Cowpet Beach Question??

How far is it from Charlotte Amalie to Cowpet Beach? We've been to St. Thomas several times and would like to try something new. Also, is it feasible to get a Taxi there and would it be safe for Single female and 13 year old DD to do alone??

Taxi, about $12 each. Beach is very safe, two restaurants and Beach Bar, lots of boats in the water as the yacht club is there. Not great for swiming, due to the boats etc. There are better beaches for suning and swimming, IMHO. If you do go, you ask for the Eyisian Resort Beach. Tell the driver what time to pick you up as there are not always cabs there. There is a lobby not far from the beach and they will call a cab if you ask them.

Thanks for the input, I had read somewhere that the snorkeling was good and it was quieter than Coki or Magens. I'm thinking now that we may be better off just going with Godfrey and having him drop us off at Sapphire - we don't really need a restaurant for a few hours on the beach. DD will want to spend most of the time snorkeling anyway. Do you have other suggestions? Neither of us like crowded beaches much.
