rough seas

It depends on the weather.

 

I know that seems obvious, but you can't really predict sea conditions -- you are going to be in the open ocean, so it's more likely to be bumpy than an Alaskan or Carribean cruise, but you could have light seas for the whole trip.

 

All depends on the weather, currents, etc, etc.

There's no way of telling. You could have smooth seas or if you hit a Nor'Easter it could be very rough. Don't plan on much outdoor pool time until a few days out of NYC. It's going to be too chilly for that in December.
