Help with parking and pre-cruise hotel-NOLA

Hi everybody-

We have just booked the Fantasy on 3/19/07 and are looking for a great place to stay pre-cruise in NOLA. We are driving in from Houston and there are 5 of us. (4 adults and a 6-year old.) Does anyone have any suggestions for a safe and fairly inexpensive place to stay, park, etc.?

The Holiday Inn French Quarter $109 pre-cruise is only through 2/15/07 so we can't do that. I really like the Sheraton but it's a little too much money ($149).

I thought about parking at the airport at one of those park-and-fly type places and just take a limo to the airport. I'm just not sure if this would be cheaper than parking at the port. We are looking for the best hotel and parking with the cheapest pricing. Isn't everyone? ;)

Does anyone have any thoughts, comments, or suggestions?

Why is the Holiday Inn French Quarter only until February? That is where we parked and it worked out great The airport is a bit far from the port. I actually was able to swing 2 cars for our price by speaking directly to the manager, so you can try that. Good Luck!
