1stcruiser1 Posted January 10, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 10, 2007 I would like to take a helicopter-glacier landing in Juneau. Does the time of day matter? Is afternoon better than maybe fog in a.m.? In Ketchikan, what is the difference between Saxman Village and Totem Bight? Which is more interesting? Budget Queen Posted January 10, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 10, 2007 There is no guarantee on weather in Alaska. It used to be if you booked an am trip and it was canceled you could maybe get on a later trip. This is rarely true now due to full bookings- every day. So book where your time fits best and hope for the best. :) Saxman is easier to get to, and plenty of operators run from the dock for about $30pp, a tour is necessary in my opinion due to the needed commentary. Totem Bight is a beautiful park with totems and a clan house. Sourdough, in the past used to run some combo tours with Saxman. A good option if you could get it. :) I have driven to Totem Bight, good option if you have a long day in port. You can also get a brief look at both areas from your cruiseship with binoculars. Saxman south of downtown, Totem Bight north.
