History of belly flop and hairy legs

While I'm not a newbie to cruising, I'm curious on when the famous belly flop and hairy legs contest started and why. Any old time cruisers with any history info??

Famous or Infamous? How about the practice of singing and dancing throughout the dining room, everynight, when I'm still waiting for my deseart or relaxing with my after dinner coffee? And PLEASE, no announcements over the PA while I'm dining. How about the waitstaff singing a song on the last night of the cruise (ONLY) as their expression of appreciation for cruising with them.

I'm not familiar with a hairy leg contest. Do you mean hairy chest contest?

 

Personally I avoid the belly flop and hairy chest contests.

I believe the belly flop was started by Adam and the Hairy Leg by Eve
