Calling home for Southern Caribbean

We are planning a cruise with my brother and SIL. They have decided to leave the baby at home with Grandma. Now the big question. SIL will need to call home daily to check on baby. After reading post about $600 call from San Juan we are checking with cell phone company on charges. Anyone have experience in calling home fron San Juan, St Thomas, Dominica, Barbados, St Lucia and Antigua? Also looking for calling card info. Thanks for you assistance.

Check with your cell provider, it most likely can be made to work fine in port, most ships now have cell service on board for around $2/min. Calling cards work great too, you can find them on the internet - try google...

i have cingular, which had service in san juan and st. thomas.

I called my two girls and my bro. from St Thomas.

Talked about 35 min.

cost about 17.00 on cell phone.

you can use cellphone at some ports

I have Verizon, was able to use cell phone in all ports except Dominica. Only could use it on the boat within about 10 miles of San Juan. No charge from calling from San Juan with Nationwide Long Distance.

Mine cell phone bill was 4.99 a min on the ship, 1.99 a min in port. I have T-Mobile
