Baggage Storage at FLL

Has anybody used the public baggage storage at FLL? Our post-cruise flight doesn't leave until after 5:00, so we wanted to check our bags and go see Ft. Lauderdale. It sounds like the airlines won't accept checked baggage earlier than 4 hrs. prior to the flight.

 

I called the FLL airport and they have a baggage storage service for $5 per bag per day in Terminal 3. By the time we store 4-5 bags (incl. carryons, etc.) and pay for taxi to town, is it cheaper to just rent a car?

 

Not sure if it helps to know, but we're on Princess.

We're also interested in knowing if anyone's used this. Also, we're flying Delta located in Terminal 2..is it easy to get from one terminal to another? TIA!
