Galveston Parking Question

Is there any Cruise Parking lots in Galveston that allow you to carry your luggage on the shuttle? Does Ez Cruise?

It's not so bad arriving, but it's a mess when you have to leave. There used to be a Dolphin lot that allowed you to carry your bags, but that was closed down last time we cruised.

You can take your luggage on Ez Cruise in Galveston. They will load it for you in the shuttle and unloaded it at the cruise checkin area.

The EZCruise lot is directly across the street from the docks. When it is time to disembark, and you are tired and don't want to wait for the shuttle....I have waited before and sometimes it can be a while, especially if you go during the time of year when it is hot. You can walk over and get your own vehicle and come on through the line and pick your passengers up yourself. We had to do that once, it worked out quicker.

We have always walked back to EZ cruise lot because the lines were to long. We have our wheeled suitcases and we all grab one and walk it. It is only a couple blocks and most of the times we have beat the shuttle back. We have a nine hour drive home and usually have to work the next days so we want to get on the road ASAP.

Port parking.... The majority of passengers got on the shuttle with their luggage. No one said a word to them that they couldn't (entire families). Then when you got off the ship we loaded all our luggage onto the shuttle back to the lot, no problem. They are more expensive than EZ Cruise/Lighthouse but do not require a reservation (you can reserve online at the galveston port web site for a discount at http://www.portofgalveston.com/cruiseinformation/parking.shtml). $70 for a 7 night, $50 for 5 night ($5 off if reserved ahead of time). This time we plan on using the hotels secured parking and free shuttle (Holiday Inn Sunspree). Happy Cruising.....:p :p

Lisab's right, there's no restriction with the port parking shuttles that only the driver can ride. We did drop our luggage off first, but most people didn't; entire groups and their luggage got on the shuttle both pre and post cruise.

 

If you want EZ cruise, get a reservation! They were full when we got there in December; you can reserve online.

Some info about lighthouse parking for anyone who wants to know.

 

They are very close to the port parking and you can pay for parking ahead online. If you get to Galveston the day ahead, stop by the lot and they will give you a coupon for $5 off of parking and you don't have to pay ahead of time.

 

the lighthouse lot is a little higher ground than some of the lots and has better fence than EZ parking.

I called Lighthouse today after I had some trouble with their website when I tried to make reservations online. They were extremely helpful and took my rez over the phone, giving me the online discount price of $50 for 7-nights,and giving clear directions about reaching the lot. Nice folks! We'll be parking there before our cruise next Sunday.

Last trip used Lighthouse as they have a shuttle that takes you and your bags to and from their lot.
