Madrid Hotels

Does anyone have recommendations for a Madrid hotel in the Puerto Del Sol area. Any experience with Hotel Carlos V.

No...I don't know anything...I haven't been to Madrid in almost 30 years...

But I'm very interested in this thread since we're looking at doing a 5-night pre-cruise in Madrid prior to our Constellation Northern Europe cruise next July (American Airlines allows us to make an extra stop at a choice of seven cities--Madrid being one of them--on our frequent flyer ticket)...Since I've been to all of the choices (Rome, Paris, Zurich, Frankfurt, Brussels, Helsinki and Madrid)...but it's been 30 years for Madrid, the others I've vuisited more recently...and my wife has never been to Madrid, it makes sense...

 

I'd also like to hear opinions, if anyone has them, on:

--BEST WESTERN MADRID -- CARRETAS #10

--HIGH TECH GRAN AVENIDA -- CALLE MESONERO ROMANOS 14

--INTUR PALACIO SAN MARTIN -- PLAZA SAN MARTIN, 5

--SUITE PRADO -- MANUEL FERNANDEZ Y GONZALEZ

--BEST WESTERN HOTEL ATLANTICO --GRAN VIA, 38

--EL COLOSO HOTEL -- LEGANITOS 13

--HOTEL GRAN VERSALLES -- COVARRUBIAS, 4

 

All of these seem to be 3 or 4 star hotels in the Puerto Del Sol...with reasonable prices...

 

Or, can anyone recommend any others? Thanks...
