Island Princess & the casino

My family & I have the April 19th 15night Hawaii booked for 2005. We are not novice cruisers by any means HA but this will be our first time on Princess. We have heard nothing but good about them and hope that we will be pleased with the line & service. My questions are, if any one whose been on this ship can help, do the self service laundry rooms have 'normal' sized washers & dryers? or are they the very very small side loading washers that hold very little? The other question is if anyone can tell me about the casino on this ship? We're looking for the types/names of the slot machines, how many are they and denominations. i believe I had read somewhere that they have the nickel video slots which is what we normally play....any and all help appreciated!!!

Thanks!!

Highroller is correct.. Washer and dryers are normal size and they cost $1 each to use. Also $1 for soap if you do not bring you own. The laundry room also has irons and iron boards. As for the casino.. I don't play the slots but there were over a hundred of those puppies ranging from a quarter to a buck..

Washer and dryers are full size and as to the casino over 150 slot machines from 25 cents up to dollar machines!
Washer and dryer are full size, front loading commercial units. The laundry rooms also have an iron and ironing board. They also sell soap and fabric softener.

We loved the Casino on the Island - found it to be a nice size with a very friendly staff. One night, one of the staff members was having a birthday and at midnight the 'floor manager' led the crowd in Happy Birthday.

In addition to what's mentioned above, they also have the nickle video slots. In regards to regular slots, we played quite a bit on Wheel of Fortune. We won 3 $100 spins and cashed out our $300 and went and booked our next cruise! In all, we walked away 'up' everytime we went in. Of note, we did see the Wheel of Fortune pay off 3 times the $1000 spin - and all on the last night! They only have Wheel of Fortune on the $1 machines. Noticed that they also have the $5 and $25 slots - a bit steep for me!

They also offer slot and blackjack tournaments throughout the cruise.

Table games are 21, Pai Gow and Let it Ride; there's also roulette and craps.

Also, while smoking is permitted in the Casino, I (as a non smoker) did not seem to bothered.

Thanks to all with their info!! you guys are great....West Coast, glad to hear you did very well. All in our group are avid gamblers-mostly slots and an occasional table here and there HA thanks sooo much for your info-it helps geratly reduce the 'wondering' what will they have? We also are smokers-while we applaud the non-smokers and give them the consideration, we also like to have a little ourselves and usually find that in the casino! I have found several pics of the casino on the Island and it looks to be rather roomy...should be very helpful to all the non-smokers that care to join the 'smoking' crowd in one of the FEW places left that it's allowed

THANKS again for all the replies!!

wrkfire911 - All your questions have been answered, but just want to add my 2 cents -- You will love the ship. We went to the Panama Canal on her last November and had a fabulous time. She's a really nice ship.

West Coast, I just looked through your album at Webshots! Thanks so much for that link!!

I still am so confused as to which balconies are exposed, which floor is which, etc. Deck 14 is Lido right? So which deck is 13? Aloha? If that's right I can figure out the rest. It's still hard to see which decks are exposed, but I guess if they aren't exposed to the weather, then you can look down on other balconies. That's kind of weird. (I'm used to Disney's)

Thanks again for your pics :)

Have you checked out the Ocean Player's Club Website?:

Also, I found this email: opc@carnival.com

"Each of our member lines carries it's own unique slot mix and may or may not offer all of the above. Please e-mail or call to confirm the current selection on the ship of your choice."
