eheffner Posted January 22, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 22, 2007 Does anyone know anything about the two new smaller 700 pass ships that Celebrity is showing on their website? If I missed this thread, maybe point me in the right direction. I see one is going to Bermuda, the other?
chessbriar Posted January 23, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2007 The other won't be joining the fleet until the Caribbean season in 2007. It will be doing longer more exotic ports. When RCI bought the Spanish cruise line Pullmantur, they traded the Zenith for the Journey and Quest. They were formerly R ships. The same as the ships use by Oceania and the Royal, Tahitian, and Pacific Princess ships of Princess. They will be offering a more upscale cruise with no formal nights. They are set to compete directly against Oceania. I think it's in response to RCI's failed attempt to by Oceania.
JORAY Posted January 23, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 23, 2007 There have been three threads on the board about them. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=445390 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=466309 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=460527 This about all we know about them at this time -- from what I have learned they are up-grading the restaurants from current M-Class ships and even in the two special restaurants they each have. We have booked the South America Antarctica cruise (Feb 2008) and can't wait to sail on the Jouney. Ray

vaccardi Posted January 23, 2007 #5 Share Posted January 23, 2007 I was on a sister ship when it was part of the Renaissance Cruise line. Beautiful but understated. We enjoyed it, but the itinerary probably made the ship a second thought (Greece and Turkey.) Its highlight is the central area that looks somewhat like the Titanic's. One potential drawback was the very small theater similar to those on ships 20-30 years ago. I am not sure how they will deal with that.
