We are booked on Grand in March. When will we get our cabin number???

it could be anytime from now, until you arrive at the pier and had over your luggage to the porters (they have a list of cabin numbers)

Absolutely correct...and even after assigned it can be changed.

This is our first time to do the guar. Got GUAR BB for the same price as BE.

The assignment will never be less than a BB. Although technically they have the perogative to move you down after an assignment (Example: You are assigned a mini and then moved back to a BA) However, I have never had it happen or heard of it happening.

 

I just booked a BA gty on the Island Princess because all the balcony cabin categories were exactly the same price. I'm hoping for a bump to a mini but know that any BA cabin would be acceptable.

 

Last October, I booked an oceanview GTY and was assigned an oceanview about a month prior to sailing. The 2 days before we sailed, I saw that I had been assigned a balcony. I kept it as a surprise for my husband when he opened the cabin door.

 

(I don't bother with the GTY if an aft-facing cabin I can afford is available.)

Last year we booked a Guaranteed cabin at the lowest cost and didn't get our assignment until a couple days before departing... and were pleasantly surprised to find that we had been upgraded!
