Holiday Inn San Juan vs Embassy Suites

The Holiday Inn is the newly remodeled one in Condado or Isla Verde area right by the airport - it is NOT the Holiday Inn Express.

We are considering one of these hotels for one night pre-cruise, both are relatively close in price and both offer a nice breakfast in the morning. What would put one over the other is a nice quiet place to sleep after a LONG day of flying from the west coast! I have seen a couple of reviews on this website as well as tripadvisor that Embassy sometimes has parties in the main lobby area that can be quite loud and go on til early morning hours. Anyone stay at either of these places recently that can give goods/bad about either? Anyone know of places to eat close by Holiday Inn? I know there is an Outback Steakhouse in Embassy which is also giving it a nudge since if we are hungry after our long day we would have someplace right in the hotel that we know and love without having to leave the hotel. Thanks for any input! :D

I stayed pre-cruise at the Holiday INN in Jan 2005 when it first opened. The rooms are nice and clean and the hotel is very quiet. We actually ate at Outback. The Embassy Inn is just a quick walk down the street. More or less walking down the driveway turn right and there you are. The lobby of the embassy houses a casino so it is very loud. But from what I saw nothing crazy. I would recommend the Holiday Inn.

Thank you for the info about Embassy being right next door! I think we will choose the Holiday Inn, no chance of parties and no casino noise plus I can get an Executive Suite for same price so why not, I'm on vacation! Thank you again that really helped!

We stayed at the Embassy Suites two years ago, prior to our cruise.

Like any Embassy Suites, the open interior atrium does allow some noise to arise. However, the bedroom is separated from the hotel atrium by the living area. We slept with the door closed and did not experience any noise. Our kids slept in the living area and did not have any problems with the noise.

We liked the Embassy Suites a great deal. The convenience of the Outback and the manager's reception in the evening were big selling points for us. Unlike many Embassy Suites, the evening reception was first class. You could get an unlimited number of any drink you desired. This hotel provided top shelf liquor, unlike the draft beer and cheap liquor many hotels provide. The appetizers provided in the evening were also top notch.

MNMickey thanks for the info on the nice evening reception! Unfortunately we are coming all the way from the west coast on a Friday prior to our Saturday cruise for a one night stay only. We won't get into San Juan until almost 8pm so by the time we get our luggage and catch a taxi we are looking at being at the hotel around 8:30/8:45pm so I am pretty sure those are usually earlier in the evening and will be over by the time we get there :( Oh well, with the places available at Holiday Inn not to mention if we decide to take the very short walk over to Embassy Suites and The Outback, we should be able to find a few beverages though not free. Thank you!
