pilotsugar Posted January 24, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 24, 2007 My husband and I will be coming to Tortola on the Carnival Liberty in May, and I was just wondering if this is the Number one attraction for this port of call?

Foxmom Posted January 28, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 28, 2007 DH and I went to Tortola on the Zenith in early Dec. 2006. It was our first trip to the carribbean. We went on the Virgin Gorda/the Baths excusion. Loved every minute of it. Mother Nature puts some very extraordinary places on this planet. Make sure you have some good hiking shoes or sandals with you. You will have to hike from the top of the hill to the bottom through a sometimes narrow path to get down to the caves and the beach @ the Baths. It's really worth it! Really good snorkeling and the scenery is unlike anything we had ever experienced before. Enjoy!;)
rednails Posted January 28, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 28, 2007 How long does it take to go into and out of the baths. We have a baby that someone would have to swap with while the others go. Can we all do it if we only have four or five ours.
BBG Posted January 29, 2007 #5 Share Posted January 29, 2007 I assume you dock @ Tortola??? I was on Holland America in December and took their shore excursion to the Baths. First we rode a ferry (from Tortola) for 45 minutes to a different island (Virgin Gorda) Then we rode a bus to the drop-off point. We then walked down to the baths. It was not a quick trip. In fact our trip was very rushed due to the ship being late in port. I don't see how you could make two trips in such a short time.
rednails Posted January 29, 2007 #6 Share Posted January 29, 2007 We will all go together to the baths but one will wait with the kids at the restaurant, I think. How long does it actually take to walk the baths? Thank you for your help.
BBG Posted January 29, 2007 #7 Share Posted January 29, 2007 It is really a path from the top (where the bus drops you off) down to the beach/baths area. It is all downhill and pretty rocky but there are some log steps to help. I think it took us about 10 minutes or less to get down. You might go slower on the way back up. Some people were going much slower so it depends on your walking speed. Hope this helps :)
hazeleyes Posted January 29, 2007 #8 Share Posted January 29, 2007 On our last cruise in November 2006 we went to Tortola on NCL Spirit we booked through the ship because we were only in that port 4 hours. A boat picked us up at the ship and took us on a 1/2 to 45 minute trip to the baths. Our excursion was snorkeling and the baths excursion. Where the boat leaves you it is a very long swim to the shore area where you start the walk into the baths. They give you snorkel equipment and a life jacket etc you see alot of beautiful fishes and corals. If you do a snorkel trip be prepaired for the long swim. In my opinion it was well worth the trip. Unbelievable and beautiful.
