Royal Caribbean Visa Card

I don't really want to call. I am satisfied with my PP card. I just cashed in for 2 free on the Liberty cruise, so I am pleased with my perks from that card. Unless I want to buy a HUMMER, (LOL) then I may consider going to the NO LIMIT Signature Visa.

P.S. and when you pay off your SUV in one lump sum (since you pay the balance off every month wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy before it is due) don't forget the IRS will be notified for any payment made over $10,000. It happened to me when I bought a Cadilac in 1990 and payed $32,000 cash. Just so ya know it!

Oh my the dreaded IRS. You know what is puzzeling me is why would anyone want to pay their balance off BEFORE it is due? Our credit card start date is the first of the month......so if I purchase something on it on the 3rd or 4th of the month.....it will not come due until around the 20th of the following month. Now, that to me is 6 weeks that I am using their money and my money is still collecting interest in the bank.

Oh well, different strokes for different folks.

The only time I ever send money in way before I get my statement, is when my balance is over 10K. That way I am not making 1 lump payment over the 10K. I will send 8K in maybe 2 weeks before the statement comes, then the balance when I receive the statement.

You are absolutely correct Cruisenfever! It's money in the bank drawing interest(even if its only a few dollars). A penny saved is a penny earned!icon7.gif

i don't pay off my cards every month, I pay however much will take me under my limit, plus a couple bucks for finance charges the next month. then i forget to pay it and pay $150 payment on a $500 limit to get it back under the limit. must be nice to have no limit cards and afford to pay them off, lol. I will be there 1 day, I am but a youngin right now.

My wife and I just booked 7-nt on Explorer from Bayonne (11-4-07). We will be redeeming 130,000 points for certificates ($1300). Instead of taking the free 7nt Caribbean (which only leave from southern ports), we chose the Bermuda cruise from Bayonne, which is less than 70 miles from our South Jersey home, thus saving the hassle and $$$ of a flight to Florida. Additionally, I intend to pay for the entire cruise with the card, and have all the certs applied to OBC. We can then "withdraw" the money from the casino. Not exactly what RCI intended, but there does not seem to be a limit on the certs applicable to OBC. The only hitches: we must be sure to not leave a balance in the OBC account; or to lose all of the money in the casino.

This information is for those of you that are lurking out there and enjoying my determination to get the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth about the Signature Visa Card.

I just got off the phone (1-866-253-0576) and talked with Jennifer. The card in quesiton is called World Points Signature Visa. Each and every card holder has a credit limit (she laughed when I asked if there was No Credit Limit), but they also give you what they call credit worthiness if you go over your preset limit. You are not penalized for going over your preset limit, but I did not ask how much over was without penalty. This card is NOT connected to Royal Caribbean, but you do get double points with RCI charges and single points for all other charges. She read me all the perks that go with it.......too many to list. If anyone is interested in applying for one the number is 1-866-227-1547.

NOW, because these are two separate cards with two different names......any points accummulated on an RCI Platinum Plus CAN NOT be rolled over to the World Points Signature Visa.

If you are using a Credit Card for your onboard expenses, any unused OBC will be applied to the credit card that you gave the rep when you checked in on the pier and you will see that credit appear on your next statement.

So many have said use it or lose it..........we always come off a cruise with a credit on our credit card because we never use all of our OBC's.

Tyvm Cruisenfever for all the trouble you have gone through to verify the info on that credit card for others. It was hard for me to swallow a NO LIMIT credit card. I have excellent credit (not bragging) and get all kinds of no fee offers from all sorts of credit card holders. I have 1 card the PP Visa and thats enough for me!

as I do the same thing. If I am at $9K, I pay it off as Equifix send me an ALERT if I am at 10K on a charge. Never had IRS bug me paying my credit cards, even bought out $19K timeshare with DL SM on a triple mile promo period. Never had a problem paying the morning of the billing date. That was my bill is -0- when mailed.

Patti, sorry for the confusion but I was refering to the fact that you come off cruises with a credit from your OBC account. DH wants to know how he can make me do that. If I know that we still have credit on our SP acct I'm somewhere on the ship taking care of that. He honors your discipline and prays that it will rub off on me:eek: No such luck bucko.:D

I am totally confused! You are saying Euifix (which I assume is the same as Equifax) the company that does credit RATINGS for customers and Businesses, notify's you when your account has a certain balance? Ok! Is this a dervice they provide just to you? They process info on peoples individual credit accounts , such as how you pay your bills timely, how much outstanding debt you have , etc. This info is provided to others that you are seeking to gain credit established with, such as for a car loan, mortgage, another credit card, etc. But in your case Equifax notifies you when your account reaches a certain point. AMAZING!!!!

Next you pay your balance way ahead of the due date, but yet you never have a problem paying the morning of the billing date! Why would you have a balance the morning of the billing date, if its payed wayyyyyyyyyy

before the due date? Am I missing something here?

You really don't need to answer cause I'm am confused enough!

but in the wee hours I can have a typo.

Great service Equifax does for folks who use Paypal for payments for working various companies. I have a fee free checking account that they go into, then I transfer it out to our joint account, so I am always a -0- balance for anyone who wants to steal some cash. Amex has been fabulous with their fraud dept. Someone got my credit card # & was ready to charge $37,000 of home repairs thru Home Depot. When they couldn't answer the verification questions, AMEX cancelled my account & sent out new Platium cards to us overnight with first delivery of the day service with FEDEX. So 5:30AM we are getting a delivery of credit cards. We never knew anything was wrong.

I have a service with them since then, that they keep an eye on unusual charges or a missed payment. They immediately send me an ALERT of the charge to verify it was me. I truly appreciate their work. They also have my credit locked to any of these PREAPPROVED folks that love to hound over 800 credit score folks. We get them for our deceased mothers & my bird too who was a partner of my husband's business & he gets pre-approved credit cards. He was on CNN years ago.

Microsoft Money is my pal. Every day I enter all charges to each of the 2 credit cards we have. Our stocks, Money Market, checking accounts all agree daily on balances. Anything looks wrong, I am on the phone. I pay our credit cards off the morning of the billing date, so I am a -0- when the bill comes out. We owe no one, no mortgage, no car payments, nothing but 2 credit cards & our retirement gets $2000 a month minmum into it. If we cannot afford it, we don't buy it & it is always loads cheaper when we do.

I love the real green stuff. We live in a plastic society I guess.

My Daddy always said if you don't have the cash in hand you can't afford it!;)

I agree! (But I still use the RCI card! ;)) We should start a poll to see how much debt everyone has (or doesn't have). Should be a BIG wake up call... save for a rainy day (i.e. retirement).

I agree and your Daddy gave you the same advice mine gave me! But I do use the RCCL visa card for all purchases and pay it off each month in full so it costs me nothing to have the card and the points add up quickly. I just called to redeem 25,000 points for 250.00 to put toward onboard credit. I received the reward certificate in less than 10 days and sent it onto RCCL for my June cruise. Is the card worth it if you are going to use it for purchases you normally make anyway and pay it in full each month? Absolutely! My money stays in the bank making interest until I send the check to RCCL each month so it doesn't cost me a dime and I actually make interest PLUS free money for cruising! A win Win situation! :D

Best place for it to be....why pay them off early......it certainly isn't getting you any brownie points.;)

as stated in the opening paragraph of the VISA SIGNATURE web site:

"You can go where you want and buy what you want without thinging about a pre set spending limit. - because there is none" AKA No credit limit.

I want our cruise to be charged to the Visa Signature over the Platinum Plus since you get $3000 lost luggage reimbursement. And if I chose to rent a car while at ports, VISA is my insurance company, not just the deductible paid as other cards do.

So visit the site, D/L & print out the 6 pages of perks & their explanation.

As far as points go, I have 10,050 on my Plat Plus so I cashed 10,000 for $100 OBC. My TA is holding RCCL charge for my 4/16 cruise til I give her my Signature Visa Account #. That should be this week so I will be ready for the 2/16 charge..

So many have said use it or lose it..........we always come off a cruise with a credit on our credit card because we never use all of our OBC's.

I think you are a little confused. This is what I just pulled up off the Signature Visa website and I assume this is what you are referring to (if not, please share the website here, so that we may all take a look)? A pre-set credit limit does not mean that you have no credit limit.....it means that if you go over your pre-set credit that has been determined for your account and you are close to your limit and want to make a hefty purchase then they give you credit worthiness so that your purchase would not be declined. Other credit cards would decline a purchase or charge you a healthy fee for going over your credit limit.

Maximize your purchasing power

With the Visa Signature card, you’re in control. Your purchases cannot be declined based on a pre-set spending limit*. That means Visa Signature cardholders enjoy maximum spending flexibility. And with Visa, you’re safeguarded against fraud, so you’ll also experience confidence and complete peace of mind.

Have no idea how we do it, but we do. But then again, when the unused OBC appears on our credit card statement the following month.........it usually helps minimize some of the deposit(s) made for another cruise(s) while onboard!!

So remember.....you will not lose it if you don't use it.:)

IN RESPONSE TO QTMICHELE'S POLL:

I have the RCI visa card and have used it and earned many points...AND the card is great, BUT we have gone back to using the chase card that gives us cash back only because we like variety in cruiselines and land trips.

Either way, we always have paid the amount due in full when the visa bill comes. We've never lived beyond our means so now that we're retired we have money in the bank to enjoy. Hope you have years of happy cruising.;)

I canned the RCL Visa and went with the Chase Rewards Pluse card. I can get cash back with it if I want, but I can also get RCL or Carnival cruise certificates to at the rate of 18,500 points for a $200 one. With this card you get 1 point per dollar on purchases other than gas, groceries, and drug store purchases. For those, you get 5 points. It adds up really fast. I average arount 2 points per dollar spent on my statements.

Patti you are 100% correct..........

The amount you go over is due 100% when you recieve your statement. I have an American Airlines card like this.........no pre set limit.......except when it is due and time to pay the piper so to speak. Each card DOES HAVE A LIMIT.........but you can spend over that if you choose.......but then that entire amount is due once you recieve your statement.......so we can go over $20,000........it's just due when we get the bill:D

Since this new SV card is not sponsored by RCI, I'll just keep my RCI Platinum Plus cause I like the card with the ship on it.
