Market on Wednesdays?

I have read somewhere about a market on Wednesday. Where is it and what kinds of things do they sell? Do they have crafts? Food? Is it a market for negotiating, or do you pay what they ask?

Thanks for any info....Marci

  • 2 weeks later...

I haven't been there yet, but in researching our upcoming trip I located several sites describing the market in Marigot, held twice weekly (Wednesday and Saturday).

The market in Marigot is on the French side of the island, so you would need to find some transportation there from the pier. Of course, there is shopping in Philipsburg, which is within walking distance of the pier, but if you want to go to Marigot you can take a taxi or bus. It is supposed to be around $12 from Philipsburg to Marigot, but a bus is only $2. I don't know about a water taxi, but that sounds fun!

Apparently the market has all kinds of things, but someone who's actually been there might answer you questions best! :)
