Is this mini-suite choice really better?

 We got upgraded from a balcony room to a mini suite. The balcony room had a balcony with roof, however the mini-suite on the Dolphin Deck of the Golden, doesn't. DH's dermatologist would have a fit - so our TA is trying for one of the 12 Emerald Deck 700 series mini-suites with roofed balcony, and she says we are wait listed. Anyone familiar with those?

We were upgraded on the Island Princess from a balcony to a mini suite and our balcony was not covered. At first I didn't like it but when I saw the size of the balcony rooms compared to the mini suite.....I would take that mini suite in a heart beat. We did a 10 nighter through the Panama Canal and it was sooooo hot that we could even sit in the sitting area of the suite and watch everything. If the sun is an issue I would suggest sun block and a hat and take the mini suite :)
