Sensation

I am booking my first cruise and I think I've settled on the Sensation, although the Celebration and RCI's Sovereign of the Seas are also alternatives. My question is: Does anyone know that the category 4A is like? I am hoping that it is not an upper/lower layout. I'm doing a guaranteed cabin and I'm just hoping that I won't end up with bunkbeds.

Thank you!

With the Cat 4A you will not end up with the upper/lower two-bed situation (bunk beds). You'll be scheduled for an interior room on the Riviera Deck (Deck 1), but could find yourself upgraded to an interior room on a higher deck. Upgrades can be a wonderful thing, but you'd not want to be assigned to one of those sixteen interior cabins on Empress Deck (Deck 4) that are below the ship's galley. Finding yourself upgraded to an interior on Main or Upper Decks could be a cool thing. Here's hoping you'll have a great vacation on Sensation - Bon Voyage!!

Just got off our 2nd cruise on the Sensation in the last 5 months.

(can't pass up the inside cabins for $169)

Both times we have been upgraded to the Empress Deck, which my Wife and I LOVE!!!!

On the deck you embark and debark from.

Same deck as the Pursers deck.

1 Deck below the Fanatsia Lounge, shops.

2 Decks below the Casino and most bars.

3 Decks below the Lido Deck. (pools, buffett)

Incredibly easy access to EVERYTHING you want to do on the ship.

Were all the way forward on the Empress Deck the first cruise.

Right behind the Pursers Desk, midship this time.

To me, you can't beat the value of the Inside Cabins on the short cruises, for a long weekend getaway.

Totally agree on the Empress deck, as far as locality to all of what's going on! This can be said for, I would presume, pretty much every Fantasy class vessel. DW and I just got back from a 4 day in E234 (6D-Outside, port, aft) and the fare was less than $500. Don't ask about my S&S balance though. :D

The good news is that I got upgraded from a 4A to a 6A. The bad news is that I'm not on the Empress deck - I think I'm still delighted though! Getting the upgrade was a delightful surprise.

You did not say how many people were going to be in your cabin (I assume only 2). IF you have 3-4 then you will find an upper bunk(s) in your cabin. If only 2, then you will find 2 twins (on the floor), which can be pushed together (if you are with a significant other!)
