Does anyone have any info as to which shore excursion would be the best for Santo Tomas? Is it better to book outside the ship's programs?

Lots of info on Guatemalan excursions there. A number of people have gone with "Gus" and seem satisfied.

We did the Amatique Bay Resort excursion through NCL. It was fine if you have small children (good kid's pool, some small animals like tortoises and a nifty pirates ship and some waterslides) OR if you just want to relax by the pool. The beach was OK BUT the ocean water looked dirty and unappealing - we stuck with the pool.
