Was on the Valor couple of weeks ago and we tendered. If you are planning an excursion get in line early for the tender ticket. They give them out at the desk by the side of the casino. The capers said they would start giving out numbers at about 930 i think but actually started giving out the numbers 45 mins before

Have fun.. we did

Wow, we didn't have to get tickets or anything, we woke up, ate breakfast and walked right down and there was a tender there waiting and another one on it's way back to pick up who didn't fit in ours.

Thats probably because you woke up late & ate, it's the people trying to get off as soon as the ship anchors that usually need the tickets.

My understanding is that the Carnival pier project is nearly dead. A private concern is negotiating to build a cruise pier and tourism village but that project seems to be years away also. The bottom line is cruise ships will be tendering to Belize City for the indefinite future.

we were on the Miracle last week and everyone tenders from 6 miles out due to a 150 mile long reef.

They run continual tenders, but let the tours off first!

If you don't have a tour , you don't need much time ashore!!

Right on all accounts. That was the longest tender ride we have had. That being said the ride was not as long (at least it didn't seem to be) as I thought it would be.

I agree, that if you don't have a tour, there is not much to see ashore. Venture outside the gated area on your own with great care.

We ventured outside the gates and walked all over town. While Belize isn't very picturesque it isn't dangerous either. We walked over to the Radisson, back through town to the Governor's mansion which is very beautiful and open for tours, past the Anglican church and then did some shopping along the main shopping street.

You guys should really live a little, it's a big world out there....don't be such a chicken.

There will be tendering in Belize for the foreseeable future as Belize is very determined to protect their barrier reef, and rightly so. Allowing ships to come to a docked pier would endanger the reef.

As others have stated, Belize is a beautiful place, theres not much shopping at the pier, particularly compared to Cozumel, etc. The city itself is rather 3rd world looking. We took a cave tubing tour with Tom ***** and had to drive about an hour to get to our excursion. Belize is very desolate once you get away from the city, but it is also very beautiful. You could really sense a history. I recall while riding to our cave tubing excursion seeing a mountain that looked like a mans face looking towards the sky...it was very interesting. Belize is somewhat bare in many places and then suddenly you are in a very lush rain forest.

Its a great place to visit. I will probably go to Belize again someday.
