Stretching Ships and Abbreviations

I have read on the boards of some of the ships being stretched? What does this mean? Do they actually make ship larger or just rearrange layout. Also, what does the D stand for in front of the H,D, or D, is it Dear as in Dear Husband, Dear Son etc. I was also curious as to when someone refers to th OP. Please don't make fun. I just joined the membership recently and have been wondering about this stuff:confused: Just curious:)

When a ship is stretched, it means that an extra section was added in the middle, making the ship longer. The D, as in DH, can mean "dear" or "darn", or whatever you want it to mean. OP means "original poster"; the person who started the thread.

Don't worry: none of these were dumb questions. :)

To add, you can find more information at the shipyard's web site, Lloydwerft.

How long do you think a stretch job takes?

The Wind 1/14 - 3/14/1998 (59 days), the Dream 3/12 - 5/11/1998 (60 days), the Majesty 11/25/1998 - 3/28/1999 (122 days).

I hope I did the math correctly. :D

Neat pictures!!! Thanks.

There's other abbreviations:

LOL - laugh(ing) out loud

IMO - in my opinion

IMHO - in my humble opinion

CC - cruise critic or maybe concierge class

I'm sure I'm leaving alot out, that's all I can think of right now. For newbies, it's confusing and you feel left out of the conversation. Won't be long though before you're throwing those abbreviations around, too.

Thanks for all the info, I was surprised about the ship stretching. (didn't think they actually cut the ship in half). I also appreciate the help with all the abbreviations.:)
