Karaoke on HAL ships

I'll be taking a cruise on HAL in March (the Noordam) and am intersted in how Karaoke nights are handled. Do you sign up in advance to participate or do you just show up at the venue and "take a number," so to speak? Do you choose the song you perform or does a DJ assign you something? Are there prizes?

 

Just anything you can offer about Karaoke would be appreciated.

Not sure of all the "ins and outs" of how its set up but we did ejoy the "Noordam Superstars" show. Some of the folks had us rolling. Finally it was won by a gal from austrailia who could really sing well. They held it in the Queen's Lounge and the place was always packed to see the show.
