smileforsonya Posted July 27, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 27, 2004 I Am Renewing My Wedding Vows (20 Years) On The Carnival Legend On 9/2/05. I Pretty Much Have Everything In Place. We Really Don't Want Any Gifts, However, It Does Not Matter What Our Wishes Are, It Is Customary To Give And We Can't Stop Our Family And Friends From Giving. My Dilemma Is That I Received Some Info From Our Wedding Coordinator "a Wedding For You" Stating That Due To U.s. Customs Regulations All Wedding Gifts Are Subject To Duty Fees. (1) Does Customs Check (2) How Do We Inform Our Guest To Make Alternate Arrangements To Have Gifts Delivered To Our Home. (3) How Do We Tell Our Guest Gift Cards Are Preferred If They Want To Give At The Ceremony Without Sounding Like We Our Choosing Our Gifts. I Would Really Prefer Not To Receive Anything. But In My Culture It Would Be An Insult To Tell Our Guest Not To Give.
jerseygirl3 Posted July 28, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 28, 2004 When we were married onboard a cruise, we had 52 family/friends that sailed with us. Most gave us money as a gift. We didn't declare anything. One person had bought us a shipboard credit. Another gave us $100 worth of rolled quarters for the casino.
smileforsonya Posted July 28, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted July 28, 2004 Thank You Jerseygirl3. I Guess I Don't Have To Suggest Anything. People Should Know That It Is Not Feasible To Bring A Gift On A Cruise Ship.
