Fact vs. Postings

If this was your first cruise or if you are from a area with no good resterants I'm sure you would think they were great.

You're not alone in your assessment of your cruise. Many feel the same way. But most first time cruisers with the experience you had do NOT come back. They'll work to save their money, and take another type of vacation next time.

If, and that's a big IF, they decide to save and spend the money again on a cruise, they'll go to another cruiseline.

Wishing all smooths seas, short lines and good prices to keep all of us CRUISE JUNKIES Happy.

Some people laid an egg over a broken propulsion system. I saw it as an extra day at sea in a beautiful ocean with free food. Cruising is a reflection of life.:D

Never said I didn't like my cruise and I'm not grumpy, my brain is not frozen and I have eatten good pizza(Wolgf Gang Puck,Sammies Wood Fired,California Pizza Kitchen and Ray's)even though I'm from Maine( which even with the cold and snow is a safe, clean place to live). I'm also not the best speller around. Maybe I just don't know how to post the right way, I'll try and do better with my review of the cruise which was very nice and I plan on crusing with CCL in July 2007 and Jan 2008. Remember this site has the word critic in the title and sometimes not everything is rosey, if you want to read only positive reviews read cruise travel mag. I

Thank-you.:)

Well, that explains everything. I do NOT like California Pizza Kitchen, but I DO like Carnival's pizza. My OPINION (not FACT) is that Carnival's is better.

I did not accuse ANYONE of having a frozen brain. I said MY brain would freeze.

Most of these posts are all in good fun! But there is a big difference in people's OPINIONS (everyone has one and they're not always the same) and FACTS.

Maybe they ran out and did not want to say that.

I have never had a problem getting cards, sometimes they even give me 2 decks at once.

Same thing on the Fantasy last month... you got NEW cards in the casino for $1, there was a sign at the cashiers cage... the pursers desk referred you there when you asked for cards.

The thing about the original post that confuses me, is the "Fact VS Postings" title... It was somewhere around 1st grade when I learned the difference between fact & opinion...

The OP starts out with 'factual' things found, but then continues with OPINIONS... Maybe a subject along the lines of "Our Findings on Carnival" would have been more appropriate...

Hi fellow cruisers:

Have been on quite a few Carnival Ships as well as some other lines. One thing I have learned if you take all the good and all the bad the good has always far exceded the bad. It sounds that the thread poster spent most of his time watching who came in late, who got free cards, etc. and didn't just focus on having a great time. If a deck of cards for $1.00, free, or 2 for 1 is the problem send me your address and I'll mail you a carnival deck. Kind of old though as some from Tropical, festivale and many others. Use to put two or three decks in your cabin. We usually traveled with others and usually to much going on to play cards other than in the casino. Go back on your next cruise and look for the positive things. Life's way to short.

Wishing all smooths seas, short lines and good prices to keep all of us CRUISE JUNKIES Happy. Bob & Nancy The Villages Florida:) :) :)

I see you are from The Villages. Did your home survive the storm ok? I have a lot of family in the area.

The deck of cards controversy totally cracks me up! It seems to be the one mystery CC'ers can't get to the bottom of. I don't even play cards, but now I wish I'd asked for some at the Purser's Desk, just to see what the outcome would be.

I'm with you. I've never asked for cards, but I will in August just to see what the Purser's Desk will say.

You have to remember that on a message board (or any email for that matter) the readers cannot hear the tone of the OP's voice. Sometimes posts are misunderstood because of this.

Consider me in agreement, Gayle.

Clearly I worded the posting wrong. It was my 2nd day back from the cruise, stuck at work in sub-zero temps. But it did give you folks something to talk/write about. I still stick with my opinions on the food items, I just need to remeber that everybody has different tastes and different levels of feelings. I have never been PC or overly sensitive. I only post at work so I don't always have time to stay or check back. P.S. I really did enjoy my cruise and have two more already booked.

I don't like the Caesar because it tastes like fish.

Okay, I usually stay out of this kind of debate, but this one really did call for at least a comment....

Real Caesar salad ingredients are:

Romain lettuce

Croutons

Lemon Juice

Freshly crushed garlic

Mustard

Virgin Olive Oil

Parmesan cheese

Egg, coddled (not raw and not hard boiled)

Black Pepper

Worcestershire sauce

The "fishy" taste could be coming from the Worcestershire sauce. Caesar Cardini, the original inventor did not include anchovies. Many people now add anchovies, but it's not part of the original recipe.

That being said, I have seen very few places that actually do a good Caesar salad. Like all good recipes, there is a reason for everything. Romaine lettuce is often replaced, but Romaine has a very bitter taste and can't easily be substituted. I don't know how many times I have seen them use things like Parmesan from a green paper tube and things like hard boiled eggs. The best have been made in wooden salad bowls where the garlic has been rubbed into the wood of the bowls, used real virgin olive oil and real Parmigiano Reggiano.

True (except I don't think the original contained mustard... he supposedly only created it from 6 ingredients, coddled egg, garlic, olive oil, lemon, worcestershire and parm) but either way, since worcestershire sauce has anchovies in it, I guess some of the flavor could be from that (in dressings that don't have anchovies as a main ingredient) but I have never tasted a fishy taste in worcestershire sauce... thank goodness!!! LOL!! I agree, a good caesar is hard to find... there are a few places in NYC that have it down to a science... I've had one in a wooden bowl with the garlic, PHENOMENAL!! I bought wooden bowls the following week, LOL!!!!

while this is normally true, i think you are both "stretching" it a bit in this particular situation...

So what exactly are you saying, truecruiser?

Gee, I wonder if you can "hear" my tone in this post......:p

So if you are sharing a table with someone you don't know, you have to sit there and wait for them before you can start your meal? What if they never show up? Is it bad form to begin your meal service when your own party is seated?

We had table mates who we met the first 2 nights, then they disappeared, then we disappeared (found the special restaurant on our cruise ship (NCL cruise line) and loved it! But it was free, and I don't think I will try the one on CCL (don't eat steak))....we never saw them again! And we didn't wait long, before getting fed. You don't have to wait for long before just starting, it is not your fault they don't show. Just my own experience.

Oh, that's why you didn't like the pizza, you like sucky pizza! :D

J/K, but I myself will probably love the pizza on the ship, 'cause I hate 2 of the pizza places you listed, and have not experienced the other 2. I think it IS a matter of taste, and could have been an off cruise, or even an off day. Haven't you ever went to a restaurant, loved the food, even RAVED about it to your friends, and then went back a different day and nothing seemed the same? (I hate it when I rave about a place, take someone who hasn't been, and then been in for a surprise!)

Different cooks often make the same recipe, but it tastes nothing alike. Perhaps you got a cook on your cruise ship who couldn't make as good a pizza as others.

Many times people decide to skip the dining room and eat at the buffet, etc. We knew in advance the night we were eating in the supper club on the Legend, so we let our tablemates know so they wouldn't be waiting and wondering. However, sometimes people decide on the spur of the moment to eat elsewhere, so I'm sure the waiters don't expect the others to wait more than a few minutes before ordering.

what i am saying is that in this particular thread, i thought the op made her feelings clear, irrespective of the "you can't hear how i'm saying it when i write it" rule. but, the OP came back several times and said that she did have a good cruise and regretted the way the post came off. so, it doesn't matter. but the "get over yourselves" or whatever it was, wld be pretty hard to misinterpret.

sheesh. don't be so sensitive. this wasn't aimed at you. and you didn't even need to know my tone in that post to know this. all you had to do was read it in context.

That's exactly mine point! Thank you for helping to show that you can't judge what you read. I'm in no way being sensitive. I think you misinterpreted my last post. I wrote it to prove my point that you can't hear how posters are stating their opinions.
