We are leaving on the spirit on Sunday. Our plane lands in San Diego at 9:34 a.m. We plan to have breakfast at the airport, how early can we show up to get in line to board. Someone said something about if we show up to early the gates to the terminal will be locked and we won't be able to get in. Thanks for any info. Cindy

Hi Cindy, 11:30am is a good time to check in. If the gates are closed you can walk down just one block and take pictures of the USS Midway or walk up to see the Star of India or just have a snack right there at the Harbor Excursion cafe.

It's supposed to rain all day on Sunday in San Diego. If you arrive at the pier terminal before check-in has started (which is about 10:30 am) there is a place to sit inside the terminal out of the weather. When you get to the gate at the pier, you'll need to show your cruise tickets and picture i.d. to the security guard. You should be able to come in and sit inside the terminal on the long blue benches. But be prepared if they don't let you inside for some unforseen reason (i.e. keep your umbrella handy).

When check-in begins, you'll then move from one part of the terminal to another, and go through security along the way (bag x ray).
