Totally new to regent and booked on the Osaka to Hong Kong 2007 cruise and can't wait. Have read that 2006 Tokyo to Hong Kong cruise had significant changes in itinerary. How common is that? also any comments about on board dress appreciated

We were on the October 2006 Tokyo to Hong Kong cruise and we enjoyed it very much! The Mariner had experienced problems with its pods while in Alaska a few weeks before our cruise and although they were repaired it slowed down the ship's cruising speed and there were some alterations made to the itinerary. We were given a shipboard credit and a credit toward a future cruise as compensation. The major changes were one day short in Shanghai and a later arrival into Hong Kong. It didn't really impact us because we did the excursion to Xian and would have missed that day in Shanghai anyway. We also stayed over in Hong Kong after the cruise so the late arrival was not a problem. As for onboard dress during the day I would say most people wore slacks and shirts or nice jogging suits. Dinner for country club casual nights was nice slacks or skirts, informal was cocktail dresses and sport coats, and formal was evening dresses or long skirts and dark suits or tuxes for the men. You will have a wonderful trip!!!

Thanks for the info. We are signed up for the 2 day excursion to Xian and Guilin as well as we were advised not to miss the Terra Cotta warriors. How does Regent manage the Beijing tours included for all passengers and what was the approximate number on the Xian excursion?

Since the Beijing excursion is included almost everyone participated. I think only about 12 people remained on the ship during our cruise. Regent uses buses to take everyone from the port into Beijing. Those of us on the Xian excursion (I believe there were 100 and some odd) did the activities in a different order than those who were returning to the ship. Regent also uses two or three different hotels in Beijing. Everything seemed to go quite smoothly.
