turkey day

We sailed the Elation out of Galveston over Thanksgiving several years ago and, yes, we did have turkey and dressing as one of the dinner selections that night. We were in Belize that day and it was very warm - in the 90's, so it did not seem like Thanksgiving at all. Also, at dinner, we were presented with a Thanksgiving menu on parchment paper and rolled up and tied with a ribbon as a souvenir. When we returned to our cabin, we had a turkey towel animal on the bed. That was about the extent of the Thanksgiving festivities. BTW, the ship was decorated for Christmas when we boarded. TG23

We have done a couple of cruises over Thanksgiving on Celebrity. They did have turkey with all the trimmings (no green bean casserole though) as one of the dinner choices.

The first one that we did was a 7 day cruise and we would never do another 7 day over Thanksgiving again. There were a large number of family groups that took all the large tables in the dining room. We were put at a table for 4. Our 14 night transatlantic over Thanksgiving was different as there were very few children and family groups on board and we were seated at our normal table choice for 8 or more.

We've sailed on Thanksgiving once and another coming up this year on Explorer, also Easter twice, Mother's Day, St. Patrick's Day and Super Bowl. the lines do a nice job. We've also been on cruises around Christmas, not not the actual holiday and it is very pretty.

We've done three Thanksgiving-week cruises, and traditional turkey dinner was available on all three. Three years ago on the Sun Princess, though, the chef went overboard: nearly every dish had pumpkin in it. It was really appalling, and I hope the chef learned his lesson from all the negative comments the meal received.
