Card room on the Star questions

Anyone remember if there's an actual poker table on the Star? Our Fam is hard core Texas Hold 'Em players and were just wondering. Can anyone use the card room? Do you have to make a reservation? I remember on the Carny Valor, the card room was just a big room with big tables. Thanks!

We just got off the Star on Saturday. A group of us used the card room just about every night. Actually, there are two card rooms right next to each other. They have about a dozen square tables in them with the reversible tops (chess/checker board on one side and a felt fabric on the other). Each table only seats four people so we always pushed a couple of tables together. The rooms get full at times, but we never had trouble finding a space. No reservations were needed. Make sure you take your own cards because the decks they provided were always missing cards.

I'm not sure what you mean by an actual poker table. If you're talking about the tables that are in the card room, there are definitely tables there that people can use to play poker at. If you're envisioning the long tables that are used in tournaments that can seat 8 or 9 people, no.

 

On a related note, they do have real poker tables in the casino, with Texas Hold 'Em played there. Of course, since it's run by the ship's casino, there is a rake. And you can't use them for an informal game for passengers.
