kazza Posted February 15, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2007 We live in the UK and are travelling on the Navigator in July. I noticed on the Royal Caribbean website that we can now order the wine package online. It is, however priced in pounds. Previous threads have suggested the currency onboard will be dollars. Does anybody know what the up to date dollar prices are for the various wine packages? I am thinking about getting some dollars, ordering the wine package when onboard (rather than online in advance) and paying my onboard bill in cash at the end of the cruise. The exchange rate is so good at the moment I think this might save quite a bit of money. What do you think?
Rare little britain Posted February 15, 2007 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2007 Kazza, we bought the 7btl Platinum package on board for $173....I would say that charging £105.70 was NOT a good exchange rate (if my maths is correct making the true cost $173 = £88.70) so much cheaper to buy it on board! And yes, the on board currency is $.
Ruggermags06 Posted February 15, 2007 #3 Share Posted February 15, 2007 Here are the prices from the website. kazza Posted February 15, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted February 15, 2007 Thanks for your prompt replies. I searched the RCCL website for dollar wine prices and couldn't find them - not sure where I was going wrong! It seems as if the dollar prices have increased making the exchange rate quite reasonable (about $1.88 to the £). However, I may still take some dollars onboard if I can get a good rate. Rare little britain Posted February 15, 2007 #5 Share Posted February 15, 2007 My $173 was before the 15% gratuity - which makes total of $198.95. Still reacon it is better value to buy on board..IMHO
kazza Posted February 15, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted February 15, 2007 That explains the difference. I thought the totals came to slightly odd amounts! You are right, it is still cheaper to buy onboard and pay in dollars as things are at the present time.
