I know they dont have parking right where you board in san diego and ive seen all the lots offered for parking, anyone park in one with a good experience ? and was it easy to find ?

we will be driving from northern ca, and i hate getting lost and stressing out,

and once you park, how do you get to the ship ? do they have shuttles,?

just wondering, thanks for any info .

Here is information on parking in San Diego for cruise ships:

http://www.portofsandiego.org/sandiego_maritime/cruise/parking.asp

Do you know anyone in San Diego? If so, how about parking at their house and getting them to run you to the ship and pick you up again? It will save you a lot of money.

yeah we were going to do that, but changed our minds,

I think it will be easier to just get in our car and go once we get off the boat. since we are heading straight home to northern ca afterwards ,,,

I would much rather pay for parking,

but ive seen the places on the website, im just not sure which one to go for... i just want it to be as easy as possible,,

LOL

thanks everyone

Hey Melissa,

Here's another linky: http://www.wwss-sandiego.com/

There is also parking at the airport that has a shuttle to ship and back to lot. Linky: http://www.sdap.net/ They take reservations. Something like $50 for the week I think.

I am going in 3 weeks and still don't know if I want to park at the pier for the or save some money and go to the airport. I will probably park in the lot near the pier. I volunteer to be the parking guinea pig.

I don't know the name of the parking lot. The entrance is on the south side of the lot.

Check out Splinter's link, it might have the information you are looking for (I have not looked at it, but he know a lot about San Diego).

The hotel we are staying at in April offers parking ...Have any of you done that? Would that be a good option?

We have done this several times when cruising. For San Diego, we stayed at the Best Western that was a few blocks away. We were on a tight budget that particular year, so had to go the cheapest route. The hotel was fine - nothing to complain about really.

The lots marked above are the Lane Field/5 Star locations (right next to each other). Note that they do not provide a shuttle, and have no indoor parking.

The parking at the airport is VERY expensive...more than $20/day. No one parks there long term. We either take a shuttle, get a ride with a friend, or use one of the lots listed on the cruise ship Port District webpage above.
