What is going on in Galveston on Jan.6,2008? can't find a room

Mardi Gras isn't always in February. It actually depends on when Lent begins. Mardi Gras 2008 is January 25 thru Fat Tuesday, February 5. I typed in dates surrounding January 6, 2008 on the galveston dot com board and nothing came up.

hmm. well thanks for the reply. Every room in that town is booked up except for the dumpy motels. I don't know whether to book my cruise now or not.

Sometimes you can't book that far in advance. They may have room, but just not "available" due to too far off. That is what they told me when I tried to book 15 mo ahead one time.

Yes, it may be the case they don't have it 'available' for booking yet. You might want to try calling instead of trying online. Maybe that will help.

I just asked my husband about rooms. He's a hotel manager in Galveston. He said that rates just aren't set up yet for 2008 and that's why the hotels aren't allowing you to book. He said try 6-months out. He said that there is not a city-wide convention going on at that time. I couldn't ask him last night because he was working Mardi Gras!
