VIP check-in or regular??

My family of 6 has two rooms reserved, one suite and an interior, both on the Empress deck. How is checkin supposed to work? My mom, dad and my daughter are in the suite, and my DH, DS and I are in the interior. My DD will be on my sail and sign account. Should we all go through VIP or split up even though she is my daughter and I will have all of her documentation? Sorry, but this is the first time we are taking the munchkins with us and I dont have a clue!

Easy answer, and what almost the entire ship of people in your position would do is stay togther.

We've done this many times before priority status when we had a a suite and had no problems.

Seperating parties, expecially those that involve the seniors, young adults in a cabin across the hall from the suite and most other parties is not worth the hassle.

We've sailed from Galveston, Ft. Lauderdale and Miami and done this with no problems. If someone in line gets upset then let them go ahead of you. The ship will not sail without them.

Cruise ship status is fast becoming overrated, as cruise prices have placed more people at priority levels similar to airlines.

I had a fellow air traveler bitch at me last week about allowing a senior couple ahead of me that arrived a little late on a connecting flight on the heralded "blue carpet" on Continental Airlines. For him the journey down the jetway is one he will not forget for a while.

If we are the same in God's eyes we should be for Royal Carribean, Carnival and the others. A vacation for one is a vacation for all aboard.

Enjoy your trip with your family and make some memories.

We have sailed VIP out of Mobile on the Holiday three times since September. Each experience was different. Twice we were allowed to bring our guests with us to the VIP lounge; the last cruise we were told that their keys were not there and they had to use the regular embarkation. We did not have the option of going with our friends through the regular embarkation since our keys were in the VIP lounge. Our friends were older folks so we weren't especially happy about being separated from them but it all worked out fine.

This is why I am concerned, this is not my friend, but my 5 year old daughter with my parents. If she was in the same cabin as I was I would never even ask this question, just have my parents go through VIP and use through the regular, but thats not the case. I am thinking I should just call my PVP and find out for sure:confused:

That is a key statement.

To keep things simple, I would just keep everyone together and the Carnival Rep checking you in will have to walk over to the VIP section and get their Sail and Sign cards.

So if travelling w/someone who has VIP check in (and you don't) assuming you can't check in together (cuz they would not have access to your S&S card?) - is there anyone you can get your boarding pics taken together? or will that be impossible?

At the port of Galveston, once you leave the check-in area (either VIP or regular) you all end up in the same place. Just get together there and proceed to the photo area!
Good to know but we are cruising from Port Everglades.

Anyone have experience w/VIP versus 'regular' lineups in FLL for embarkation???

I highly suggest you notify the person in charge of VIP boarding. We had to do that once because our docs did not say VIP and they arranged for all our cards to be in the same place for VIP. Just call them. They will accomodate you if you tell them the reason. Don't leave it to chance!

When we did VIP check-in on the Pride last month, I also had the concern of being broken up because our grown kids and my son's girlfriend were in an inside cabin and hubby and I had the suite. When we got to the VIP we were asked if they were family and they had no problem with it all. I think the key word is "family".

We cruised on the Elation last month, with family and friends. We were VIP and they were not. I had decided to just do a regular check in to stay with them but was told my S&S cards were in VIP. They took care of us though. We went to VIP, the rest of the party went to the normal check-in and and they were escorted back to us and we all went togethter to get on the ship. Had our photo taken together, etc.

I'm sure they will let you take your daughter with you to VIP check-in or you can just meet them like we did. It was very simple and the Carnival Reps were great:)

Again the key is that Mom said she was going to have daughter's documentation. The above plan will work as long as you give the grand parents her daughter's documentation.

Just off the Liberty - went with a friend who was Platinum and had VIP boarding - got our pic taken together first (this was in FLL) then proceeded to the VIP line - absolutely no problem checking in there despite the fact that I was not Platinum - very pleasant in fact - off to get my card somewhere and back in a flash - excellent embarkation experience.

As for getting off - my friend got me some extra silver luggage tags so when we disembarked our luggage would be in the same area - worked out great!

I work check-in in New Orleans. MY ADVICE is that the whole family go to VIP check-in. It happens all the time. The check-in person will just have to go get the regular Sign & Sail cards. No problem. Don't worry so much, you are on vacation. Don't let little things like this upset you before you sail. Go with the flow and go to VIP check-in.

We were on the Destiny out of San Juan, we had 4 cabins with 1 suite, the Carnival official directed us all to go to the VIP lounge. They called us with the regular rooms in one by one for check in. We had no problems. If you are a family they understand and are very accomodating.

I am traveling with senior cousins and inlaws on the Victory in October. I am the youngest and over 20 cruises am taking the inside for a little privacy. They are in 2 suites across from me......

Since I want to use my credit card for the expenses....I need to check in with them. These are the folks who fret about everything and was wondering if Carnival would throw me out since I am the only non VIP cabin.

Whew!!!! I am usually a Cunard and Celebrity steerage and this is new territory for me.
