Train or Carnival Transport to port?

Now I am conflicted. We had planned to take the train in to the port from Rome ( we will be in Rome a few days before the cruise) but now I note that one of the Carnival transport stations (at the Hotel Visconte) is just around the corner from our hotel - it would be less stressful but at $75 each much more expensive than the $10 train trip.

Even the Carnival rep suggested to my TA that I take the train!

Is this a no brainer?
