giraffez Posted February 21, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 21, 2007 Hello When are you assigned a room and how do you find out whether you have an upgrade? I've been reading a lot of people seem to be getting upgrades. At the moment my profile says Stateroom:GUAR what does this mean? Thanks
gizmo Posted February 21, 2007 #2 Share Posted February 21, 2007 The guarantee means you did not select a cabin, but you are guaranteed a cabin of a given category. When a guarantee is booked it can be for a certain category for example, you book a category C guarantee. This means you are guaranteed to be assigned a C cabin or possibly a cabin in a higher category, but not any lower. Another example is an outside guarantee. This means you will be assigned an outside cabin. You may be assigned the lowest outside category.
RuthC Posted February 21, 2007 #3 Share Posted February 21, 2007 Generally a guarantee cabin is assigned at the 1-2 week from sailing mark. Sometimes it's a lot further out than that; sometimes it's not until you're at the pier! If your cabin assignment is made before you leave your TA should notify you. In any case you can check the HAL website Immigration form. When your cabin is assigned the number will appear there. IF you get an upgrade you can figure that out by comparing the cabin category you booked against the category you were assigned to. Judging by the variations in opinion in the thread about what constitutes an "upgrade" I wouldn't venture about how you'll consider your cabin assignment!;)
Schplinky Posted February 22, 2007 #4 Share Posted February 22, 2007 We were assigned our GUAR cabin about 4 weeks out but in our case, the cruise was sold out so they knew that they would not have to juggle people based on new bookings at that point, I presume.
