Not to sound stupid but Tide table ??

How do you read the tide table for the Bay of Fundy? We would like to see the caves and rocks. I looked at the table , but then it says to add 2 hours for slack etc, and that the rocks are good to walk from 3 hours before to 3 hours after low tide, the caves 2hrs. someone please help :) We will be there from 8a-5p on June 14th 2007

Low tide is around 8:30 AM - you will be able to do the caves until about noon. If you book a tour through the ship, I would imagine they would have you out there at the most ideal time possible.

 

As for your child - there is a firefighter's museum a few blocks from the ship. In the past I saw them take children around the neighborhood on an old firetruck letting them ring the bell and sound the siren. You could email them to find out http://www.sjfirefightersmuseum.ca

Also a couple blocks from ship is the Canada Games Aquatic Centre. For $5cdn. your kid can swim in an olympic size pool, whirlpools, leisure slide, tarzan rope and diving platforms if he is brave. http://aquatics.nb.ca

A couple blocks from the front of the ship is the New Brunswick Museum - the Hall of Great Wales might be interesting. http://www.gnb.ca/0130

To do something "really" memorable, try the Reversing Falls Jet Boat Ride. Low tide is at 8:30 and for two hours you must be 13 and up. After that your 8 year old can go on it as long as he is 42 inches tall and accompanied by an adult. http://www.jetboatrides.com The jetboat office is located in the lighthouse located beside the ship at Market Square.

There is a store in the shopping centre near the ship called "Little Shop of Science" - educational and fun toys, etc...

A 10 min. cab ride from the ship is the Cherry Brook Zoo & Vanished Kingdom Park - it has 35 exotic species to see, including Emu, Wildebeest, Siberian Tigers, Jaguar, African Lion and of course the favorite monkeys and other primates. http://www.cherrybrookzoo.com

Thank you so much, that was just the kind of info I was looking for! we have 2 firefighters in the immediate family, so that is definaly a must do. I will check out the other ideas as well.

I'm glad we will be able to see the caves, it is something all 3 of us like to do/see
