We are staying at Hotel Continental pre-cruise in October after much research on the boards.

A balcony overlooking Las Ramblas is 110 EUR but you can get a standard room for 90 EUR. Tax is included plus a free 24-hour buffet including beer and wine.

We booked a year out. Many European hotels are very small by American standards and need to be booked well in advance. Good luck!

Do you know what they mean by a standard room?

I would imagine it means a tiny, inside room (much like on a cruise ship but maybe a wee bit larger). ;) Again, many European hotel rooms are much smaller than we Americans (and Canadians) are accustomed to. And, of course, the cheapest rooms will be the least desirable ones.

Personally, we are going for the balcony overlooking Las Ramblas.

We lucked into finding the hotel Fiesta Caspe - extremely clean and walking distance to lots of great places - Sagrada Familia, Las Ramblas etc. We paid like 80E i believe last September.
