hop on/hop off bus in Rome

Does anyone know if you can take luggage onto the hopon/hopoff bus in Rome. We will be taking the Leonardo Express into Rome and I understand the hopon bus stops directly at our hotel.

I am going out on a limb here and say no.They are double decker's and have no room for luggage.I know in London one time someone tried it and they said no way.I guess you could ask,but I would not count on it.
