Well, it's not 88! I'd say it's about 72 or so, cool but not freezing. I hate cold water too, but after the first 'breathtaking' dip, I was used to it within seconds, and never even noticed it after that. It helps that you're not getting your whole body and head in the water, just your (ahem) backside, mostly.

 

This was in December. I don't know if it varies with the time of year.
